It’s time to announce  our upcoming 43rd Annual Mojave Road Rendezvous event in October!!! We have a stellar event on tap for you – so start making your plans to get yourselves to Goffs.

We have a lineup of world class people, corporate sponsored workshops, a huge offering of historical presentations, a history-based art exhibit, Lost Arts demonstrations: Stamp Mills and Blacksmithing, and a whole host of Educational Field Trips. And we are adding a Town Hall this year.

What is a Town Hall Event you ask? Great question. The Town Hall Event will be an open forum session where I and the other board members will provide some updates on what’s going, and then we turn it over to you, the members, to ask whatever questions you may have, provide input, offer advice or ideas. In other words – it’s an open dialogue. No holds barred – no topic is off limits. If it’s on your mind – feel free to ask.

A few DETAILS for this year’s event:IMG 0056

  • PRICING – Historically, the charges for the event have been $10 registration and $10 for the Saturday night dinner. With the increased costs of food and supplies, we have to increase the price this year. We had considered what we believe to be a fair market price point, but ultimately we decided to go below that out of respect for our members – this event is to honor you. So – this year’s pricing is as follows:

o   $30 TOTAL. This will be a single fee that will cover both registration and dinner

  • This simplifies the process, we only have to process one transaction rather than two
  • Slight increase in price to help offset the increased costs of food and supplies
  • Door Prizes – We are doing things a little different this year, please do NOT bring any items for the door prizes – we have it covered for ya.
  • Raffle – The raffle this year is massive (my letter is in your raffle ticket envelope) – but we have a stated goal to try and get our membership to participate 100% in the raffle. Thanks to amazing corporate partner support, this is our biggest raffle ever. Please buy tickets – or sell some – it REALLY helps usIMG 8052 Original
  • Awards – In recent years, our awards have morphed into a single level – the Wagon Master Award. Dennis’ original vision was multi-levels of awards to recognize varying levels of support and contribution to the MDHCA. Make no mistake – we appreciate everyone and everything people do for us, but the Wagon Master has become the equivalent of a Participation Trophy – and we are getting back to our roots with this. So, we will be reintroducing some award categories, bringing back the prestige of the Wagon Master, and introducing some new categories that recognize skillsets. We do hope you understand and appreciate the efforts to reinstate our tradition here.
  • Energy –Media personality and Board member Sean Holman will be manning the microphone this year. Sean brings a fun and high energy vibe to the mic and has a voice for radio.
  • Money– A frequently asked question is, “Do I need to bring money?”  Rendezvous Registration is $30 per adult, Annual
Memberships are $35 and renewals will be taken during registration. The bookstore will be open with awesome books and swag for sale, we have the Silent A79636356 9FAA 43B9 99C6 4AE920927A32 Originaluction, additional Raffle and Door Prize tickets will be available to purchase,  and we always accept donations ;) So, the answer to your question is, “YES bring cash – but only spend it if you want to.”  We do take PayPal and Credit Cards, but Credit Cards really slow up the process since we need to use a tablet with slow Wifi.  Cash, Checks and PayPal are the best ways make all your Rendezvous purchases.  “Meet the Authors” books will also be available for purchase.
  • Chairs– As always, bring chairs, and whatever else you need for a weekend of camping
